Peak Heaven at Herbert Heights |
||
We are hidden in the unspoiled island of Nevis located in the Caribbean at 17°9'0 N, 62°35'0 W. The historic village of Rawlins is elevated 1200 ft above sea-level. The 4.9 acres, affectionately called Herbert Heights, were used by two families for agriculture for 100's of years. You are invited to experience the simplicity of past Nevisian life in its unspoiled natural surroundings. The modest wooden houses are replicas of indentured slaves' homes from over 100 years ago. Our village includes a large picnic area, Eddies Tree House and a tri-level playground. The Monkey House - where several of our "green monkeys" live in natural and spacious surroundings. our Heritage House - where you will be educated about our history from the 17th century to the present, and "The Ginger Lily Massage Spot"- where you can relax and enjoy a massage in a serene and tranquil atmosphere.
Your palate has not experience anything until you have savored the cuisine from The Coal Pot Restaurant. Our cuisine is fresh and our menu consist of ingredients that would have been traditionally used by our forefathers. And for those who appreciate a little excitement with nature, our Zip Lines will accommodates the thrill seekers and also our 36-lot campground is due to open in summer 2010. The campground has multiple levels with grills, picnic tables, showers and restroom facilities. You can bring your own tent or tents are available for rent.
We have many tours available, such as Nevis Peak, the Trail of Runaway Slaves to Maroon, the Historical Walk and Bush Tea Tour. View the highest discovered ruins on the island or learn about age old natural remedies. Alternatively, if you just need time to unwind, retreat to the village for quality, rest and recuperation. No modern day distractions, just a time to experience simple peace.
